Homelessness

The problem of homelessness stands as one of the most significant issues that San Joaquin County currently faces. Throughout his work as a paramedic, Travis has directly experienced the effects of the homelessness crisis.

Paramedics have responded to numerous emergency calls involving homeless individuals, observing how their situation affects both them and their families, as well as their residential areas. Travis brings more than sympathy: He brings experience and action.

Through his nonprofit organization, Path to Humanity, he serves as both founder and leader, developing practical solutions to address homelessness. The solution to this problem requires multiple approaches because there is no single solution. The solution to homelessness requires joint efforts among public authorities, healthcare organizations, nonprofit organizations, and community-based organizations.

Travis will advocate for Board of Supervisors policies that establish routes for people to leave homelessness during his time on the board. The solution requires funding for mental health care, job preparation, substance abuse treatment, and secure places to live. His goal is to restore dignity to the community while reducing public service costs.

I have witnessed the homelessness crisis directly, and I understand we can resolve it through both empathy and effective measures.
